The Introduction to Sourdough course is the ultimate journey we offer into the world of bread at Einkorn.
A fully immersive experience, the course delivers a comprehensive education on the history and science of bread, as well as hands-on opportunities to create, bake and eat your own sourdough. If you’re interested in starting your sourdough journey, the Introduction to Sourdough will give you everything you need to get started.
Rather than simply teaching you how to bake your own sourdough, our course will teach you the founding principles of bread itself, helping you to understand that bread is not defined by the loaves you see on the supermarket shelves. Real sourdough is a superfood, and the course will take you back 12,000 years to discover the ancient grains that civilisations are built on.
Real bread is incredibly healthy for us, but the mass-produced bread we’re sold is anything but this. The Introduction to Sourdough will teach you the wonderful reality of natural bread.
You will mill your own ancient grain blend, going into full scientific depth at each stage of the process.
You’ll get the opportunity to create your own starter, with troubleshooting advice on hand from our experts on how to look after your creation.
Included in the cost of the course, we’ll stop for lunch to enjoy a delicious (and very substantial) focaccia sandwich created by our baking professionals.
After lunch, we’ll dive right back into making your own bread, talking in detail about the science of sourdough, and comparing authentic bread to the products widely sold and eaten from supermarkets. It’s here that you’ll learn the genuine harm that mainstream bread is doing to us, and how real sourdough is a world away.
At the end of the course, you’ll leave with your very own baked sourdough loaf, as well as a banneton, raw sourdough, a bench scraper and a dough lame. We’ll also supply you with a bread workbook to help you at the start of your sourdough journey. The book will include everything taught on the course.
